I do not cook with salt. Why? Because one cannot experience the herbs and other unique flavors of a dish if all you taste is salt! Why is popcorn good? Salt. Ice cream and cheese? Salt. And we all love salt! Cheeses have salt, so don't add there. Canned sauces like tomato paste have salt. Do not add there! If you want to taste herbs, mustard, wasabi, scallions and more, peppers do not add salt!! This made me curious about a natural salty ingredient that could give salt and other minerals, not have the negatives of salt for older folks and not swell mommies who are expecting. So far, after 3 weeks, I am liking Green Salt. I have given portions to friends with palates to give it a try. I use it on my eggs in morning and in soups at night. So far, so good. More reviews to come. Thanks to Green Salt for thinking this up.

I don’t happen to be on a sodium restricted diet. I do probably get over the daily recommended amount so I decided to give this product a try. It has a bit of “fishy” flavor to my tongue. I don’t use it as a complete substitute for my favorite Himalayan salt but to cut back. I approve of sustainable farming and irrigation practices and want to support companies stepping outside the box.

I wish that I had even had the opportunity to try the product. The item never arrived; it was marked delivered by the courier, but never received. We checked neighboring apartment buildings for a few days, but it never turned up. I emailed letting them know we never received the product, and their response was “check your local post office“. That’s a totally unacceptable response, and I have not heard any follow up from them. They’re clearly not interested in making sure you get the product or are satisfied with the product, they just want your money. Too bad, because my dad has heart problems, and I was really hoping that this would give him some more options when seasoning food.

This is by far the best salt alternative I have ever tried. I tested it out on my husband who wasn't crazy about the idea but I used it while cooking so he couldn't tell what kind of salt was in it and he had no idea! I do like the Green salt and I also ordered two containers of the fresh plant, samphire as I knew it in England.
It was expensive. The order seemed to take longer than I expected for the cost and one of the containers had to be picked over as some of the herbs were slimy and bad ! Not happy for the price I paid !
I ate the rest sprinkled on top of my salads over a period of days and LOVED it ! It was so crunchy and flavorful. Not happy I had to throw some away though !

I'm fine with the taste of it, but it seems like it takes so much more than the Himalayan salt I usually use. I understand if it has less sodium, but if one has to put so much on a dish to get the flavor, I'm just not sure it's worth it. I like that you're trying to create something healthy, but, to me, it still needs some work. I wish you well.

Your salt is salty, but not salty enough that I am satisfied. I find I am using twice as much. The good thing is that as I salt every bite, even twice as much still keeps me ahead of the game sodium wise…but still, if you could make it taste saltier that would be lovely. Also, needs to be n a shaker…can’t use it in cooking in pinches, as it is too fine.

Because of a health issue, I must limit sodium in my diet. Doing so has been a struggle as the salt substitutes I have tried have all ended up in the garbage because of the taste. I have used Green Salt in all my recipes including baking and am so pleased with the flavor. I do need to double to amount that would be needed of sodium. I have not added salt to any foods I have prepared in many years and have relied on herbs to flavor most dishes. That has not been ideal, but my husband and friends add salt when needed. I must warn though that eating green mashed potatoes has been required some conditioning.

Since my husband is on restricted salt because of heart problems I was interested in trying this product. It was shipped quickly and we are very happy with the product. Since it is quite powdery I put it is a shaker with not real fine holes and it works great to shake on the food at the table. It has a nice flavor to it and definitely gives the food a salty taste.
